CLASSES

Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu is a grappling based sport that uses leverage and technique to defeat your opponent. This allows smaller participants to defeat bigger opponents as size and strength play a less important role than in many other martial arts. In our Jiu Jitsu classes, you will learn takedowns, joint locks, chokes, how to control an opponent on the ground and how to escape from dangerous positions. Jiu Jitsu practitioners can choose to compete in Jiu Jitsu tournaments or train for the benefits of physical fitness and personal development. Fundamentals classes for beginners and Intermediate/Advanced classes for more experienced members.

Kickboxing

Thai, also known as kickboxing or “the art of eight limbs” is a martial art/sport that focuses on the most effective ways to use punches, kicks, knees, and elbows to attack and defend. This class will give you an excellent workout, but it is not a “Cardio Kickboxing” class. You will be learning real, effective techniques from coaches who have fought successfully in Muay Thai/Kickboxing and MMA. Classes consist of a general warm up, skill development, pad work and partner drills. Fundamentals classes for beginners and Intermediate/Advanced classes for more experienced members.

Boxing

Also known as the sweet science, boxing is an extremely popular program for people who are looking for a fun way to get fit. It is also an essential skill for anyone hoping to compete in kickboxing or MMA. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the fundamental punches, footwork, and combinations, or an experienced fighter, our boxing classes have something for everyone. Coached by experienced competitors and coaches, our boxing program consists of a dynamic warm-up, shadow boxing, footwork drills, pad work, bag work and partner drills.

Teen Classes

Teens aged 13-17 can learn the striking arts of boxing and kickboxing in their own classes designed specifically around their needs. They’ll get a great workout, learn self-defense skills and boost their confidence in an awesome environment.

Women's Only

Steel City MMA is happy to provide a welcoming and inclusive training environment in all of our co-ed classes. We also know that many women feel more comfortable training and learning in an all-female environment, with female coaches, and we are happy to provide this for the girls and women at SCMMA. We run 8 week sessions of Women’s Only Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu at various points throughout the year.

Youth Classes

Youth aged 7-12 learnt the arts of kickboxing, jiu jitsu and wrestling in age appropriate classes with our awesome youth instructors.
